Hormone Loving Choco-Berry Bark

Hi lovelies,

I have a treat for you . 
It's a dark chocolate fruit and nut bark. 

It's rich in stress combating minerals like magnesium and zinc and is rich in antioxidants and fiber. This truly is a nutrient-dense dessert and what's nice about it is that it is so rich and decadent tasting, it is actually hard to overeat it. Just a few pieces will satisfy your evening cravings without throwing off all your healthy hard work during the day.

 It's creamy and chocolatey, and a little bit sweet, but not too sweet that it will send your blood sugar sky high and stress out your hormones or anything. 

It's a recipe that you can get super creative with too, which is cool because you can customize it to what you like. 

So without further adieu, the recipe:

Hormone Loving Choco-Berry Bark

What you need:

  • 1 cup of berries

  • A handful of nuts and seeds of your choice (in the picture above, I just used sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds)

  • 3 -4 tbsp raw cacao (alternatively you could use dark chocolate bars too- if so, omit the next step)

  • 3 -4 tbsp coconut oil (or a large chunk or cocoa butter is nice if you have some)

  • A pinch or two of sea salt

  • 1/2 a tsp of cinnamon

  • Optional (almond butter, coconut flakes, hemp hearts, sweetener of choice)

Method

  • Place your berries nuts and seeds spread out (or in a little pile) on some parchment paper on a tray

  • Over medium heat, melt your coconut oil

  • Stir in your cacao and spices

  • Once the everything is melted and stirred together, drizzle over your fruit and nut pile

  • Place the tray in the freezer for at least 10 minutes and let the chocolate harden everything up

  • Remove the tray from the freezer and cut or break the bark into bite size pieces

  • This recipe should provide you with a few days worth of servings.

  • Store leftovers in the freezer until ready to eat.

Tips

  • This makes an awesome ice cream topper or addition a morning breakfast bowl.

  • You could also stir in some nut butter to the melted mix and pour that on your fruit if you didn't have any nuts at home.

  • I have omitted extra sugar from this recipe, but you could definitely stir in some honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar or stevia if you wanted your chocolate sweeter.
