Swirly Summer Frutie Smoothie

´This recipe is really simple, really pretty and really tasty.

The reason this is so simple, is because sometimes, I like to make a big batch of fruity smoothie and leave it in my fridge for random delicious things- like making pretty ice cubes, or drizzling on to some yogurt, or making a smoothie bowl with lots of crunchy mix-ins so I can eat it with a spoon,  or as in the case for the picture below...using it as a base for this  "dreamy coconut berry frappé".  I guess technically..it's not a real frappé because nothing was actually frapped in the making of this beverage.

UPDATE:
frappé: fraˈpā/- adjective - (of a drink) iced or chilled.

I'm thrilled to announce this beverage is in fact, a legitimate frappé.

DREAMY COCONUT BERRY FRAPPÉ RECIPE

All I did was use my leftover fruity smoothie as a base, and swirled in some full fat coconut milk.

The Fruity Smoothie Base

  • 1 cup of berries

  • 1/2 banana

  • 1 orange

  • a chunk of pineapple

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

  • Water or coconut water to thin everything out to your desired consistency

You can really use whatever fruit you have on hand that you think will go well together. I always like to add some fat to a sweet smoothie like this to help avoid any rapid blood sugar spikes and to make the drink more of a snack since fats can help make you feel more satiated and sustain you for longer.

The Coconut Milk Swirl Part

This can be as basic or complex as you desire.

To keep it easy just pour some full fat coconut milk into your fruity smoothie and swirl it around with a straw or spoon.

If you want to get fancy, you can blend your coconut milk with a protein powder of your choice, or collagen protein if you're into that. You could also add in some cinnamon or ginger to give your swirly drink an extra boost of anti-inflammatory power and of course, flavour.

If you're feeling extra rambunctious and the event calls for it,  you could always also swirl in some rum or something, you know.. because summer, heck ya.

Happy swirlin!
